Erbil–UAE Delegation Launches Four-Day Mission to Boost Economic Cooperation

A joint delegation from the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Union of Kurdistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry began a four-day official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday, aiming to strengthen economic ties and expand commercial cooperation with the Gulf nation.

In a statement, the Erbil Chamber said the mission seeks to deepen trade relations, encourage Emirati investors and companies to engage in the Kurdistan Region, facilitate the exchange of business delegations, increase participation in international exhibitions, and sign several memorandums of understanding with leading UAE business institutions.

During the visit, the delegation will hold meetings with chambers of commerce in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Ajman.

A major focus of the trip is to study the UAE’s experience in establishing and managing commercial hubs, as Erbil plans to develop its own central commercial center in the near future. To support this goal, the delegation will tour prominent trade and business facilities across the Emirates and meet with officials to discuss potential future cooperation.

The Erbil Chamber noted that the mission aligns with the Kurdistan Region’s broader strategy to expand international trade partnerships and enhance the region’s investment climate.

The UAE has emerged as one of the Middle East’s key commercial gateways, known for its free zones, logistics centers, and large-scale international exhibitions that attract investors worldwide. Companies from the Kurdistan Region have increasingly taken part in trade events in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, promoting the region as an emerging destination for foreign investment.

Economic ties between the Kurdistan Region and the UAE have continued to grow, with Emirati firms active in construction, real estate, energy, and retail sectors in Erbil and other cities.

The current visit aims to build on this progress by formalizing cooperation, exchanging expertise, and laying the groundwork for joint economic projects in the coming years.
