President Masoud Barzani on Sunday welcomed Ziad Al-Battarsa, the newly appointed Consul General of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, during an introductory visit at the presidential residence in Pirmam.

Al-Battarsa conveyed the warm greetings and respect of His Majesty King Abdullah II to President Barzani, noting that the Jordanian monarch has consistently emphasized the importance of strengthening and expanding bilateral relations with the Kurdistan Region. The Consul General also congratulated President Barzani on the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s recent electoral victory, which garnered more than one million votes. He described the result as a clear indicator of the party’s strong standing among the people of Kurdistan and the progress achieved in recent years.

President Barzani expressed his gratitude to King Abdullah II and the people of Jordan for their continued support, especially during challenging periods. He referred to the King as a “brother and dear friend,” reaffirming the Kurdistan Region’s commitment to deepening ties with the Hashemite Kingdom.

The meeting also included discussions on Iraq’s post-election political landscape and ongoing internal political developments within the Kurdistan Region.
