Xi Welcomes Putin, Kim and Other Leaders at WWII Victory Parade in Beijing
Chinese President Xi Jinping welcomed Russian President Vladimir Putin, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, and other international dignitaries on Tuesday at a grand military parade in Beijing marking the 80th anniversary of Japan’s surrender in World War II.
The commemoration, held in Tiananmen Square, drew more than 50,000 spectators who watched China’s military showcase its latest equipment in a display of power and unity. The event underscored deepening ties between Beijing, Moscow, and Pyongyang as they strengthen cooperation in opposition to the United States and Western allies.
In a notable development, Kim Jong Un’s daughter also traveled to China, in what is believed to be her first international trip — a move widely seen as symbolic of North Korea’s growing engagement with Beijing.
