President Nechirvan Barzani Mourns Victims of Al-Kut Shopping Center Fire
Erbil, Kurdistan Region – The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, expressed deep sorrow over the deadly fire at a shopping center in Al-Kut, southern Iraq, which killed dozens and injured many others.
In a tweet, President Barzani stated:
"With profound sorrow and grief, we have been following the painful tragedy resulting from the horrific fire in a shopping center in Al-Kut, which led to the death of dozens of citizens and left others injured.
Our hearts are with the families of the victims in this immense calamity, and we share their deep sorrow and immense tragedy. We ask God to envelop the departed in His vast mercy, to bestow patience and solace upon their loved ones, and to grant the wounded a speedy recovery."
The fire, one of the deadliest in Iraq in recent years, has sparked nationwide mourning and calls for improved safety measures in public facilities. While the incident occurred outside the Kurdistan Region, President Barzani’s message reflects solidarity with all Iraqis during times of tragedy.
