Kurdistan Region Leaders Extend Easter Greetings, Emphasizing Coexistence and Peace
Erbil, Kurdistan Region – On the occasion of Easter, senior leaders of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq issued heartfelt messages of congratulations to Christian communities in Kurdistan, Iraq, and around the world, reaffirming the region’s commitment to religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
In his statement, President Massoud Barzani extended his warmest congratulations to Christians, saying:
"On the occasion of the resurrection of Jesus Christ (peace be upon him), I extend my warmest congratulations and blessings to our Christian sisters and brothers in Kurdistan, Iraq, and around the world."
He emphasized Kurdistan’s long-standing tradition of coexistence, stating:
"Coexistence and tolerance are a great source of pride for the people of Kurdistan, and they must be protected and enriched."
President Barzani expressed his hope that Christians and all other communities would celebrate their holidays in peace and harmony.
Nechirvan Barzani, the President of the Kurdistan Region, also conveyed his Easter greetings, stating:
"I sincerely hope this holiday brings joy, peace, and prosperity to all of humanity."
He highlighted the Kurdistan Region’s role as a model of diversity and mutual respect:
"We reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that the Kurdistan Region remains a bastion of diversity, promoting the values of coexistence, tolerance, and respect for all beliefs and identities."
President Nechirvan Barzani called for unity and solidarity, urging collective efforts to serve and develop the nation.
Meanwhile, Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, issued a statement wishing Christians a joyous Easter:
"With the arrival of Easter, we extend our sincerest congratulations and warmest blessings to our Christian sisters and brothers in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the world."
He expressed hope that the holiday would strengthen peace and stability, fostering deeper bonds of tolerance and affection among all communities in Kurdistan.
