Kurdistan Regional Government Distributes Financial Grants to Yazidi ISIS Survivors

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has launched the distribution of financial aid for Yazidi survivors of ISIS atrocities, as part of an ongoing support initiative led by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani. The March 2024 installment of the grant began distribution on Monday, covering survivors in multiple regions, including Khaneke, Sheikhan, Sharya, Dirabon, and Duhok.

Streamlined Process with Special ID Cards

To expedite the process, the KRG has authorized the use of special identification cards issued to Yazidi survivors. These cards, ordered by PM Barzani, serve as official documentation across government institutions, ensuring smoother access to aid and services.

Over 3,500 Survivors Assisted in Eight Months

Since the program's inception, 3,575 survivors have benefited from the financial assistance. The aid extends not only to direct survivors of ISIS but also to their family members and those currently residing abroad.

The initiative underscores the KRG’s commitment to supporting the Yazidi community in the aftermath of the genocide committed by ISIS in 2014. Further phases of the program are expected to continue in the coming months.
