Peshmerga Forces Commence Joint Military Training with Iraqi Ministry of Defense

In a significant stride towards fortifying joint security efforts, the 20th Brigade of the Peshmerga forces initiated joint military training with counterparts from the Iraqi Ministry of Defense on Sunday. This collaborative training initiative, mandated by the Peshmerga Ministry last week, aims to bolster coordination and collaboration between the forces, addressing the security vacuum that emerged following the October 2017 events.

According to a BasNews reporter, personnel from the 20th Brigade were summoned to designated training bases following a directive from the Peshmerga Ministry. The Peshmerga forces officially commenced their joint training endeavors on Saturday, actively engaging in comprehensive sessions at key military bases, including the Kirkuk training base in Diyala, the Kirkuk military training base, and the Nineveh military training base.

The joint training initiative comes in the wake of the 2017 events, during which Peshmerga forces were compelled to withdraw from disputed territories under pressure from the Iraqi army and the pro-Iran Hashd al-Shaabi. The current collaboration signifies a strategic effort to enhance security measures and strengthen the capabilities of both forces.

An integral aspect of this joint effort involves aligning the salary disbursement schedule of the Peshmerga forces with that of the Iraqi Ministry of Defense. It has been confirmed that both entities are slated to receive their salaries concurrently in December. This synchronized salary disbursement is expected to foster a sense of unity and shared purpose among the joint brigades, emphasizing the commitment to collaborative security measures.

The joint brigades are actively participating in training sessions aimed at enhancing their capabilities and fostering a seamless working relationship. The training bases, strategically located in key military zones, provide an optimal environment for honing skills and ensuring a coordinated response to security challenges.

As the joint training progresses, observers anticipate a strengthened alliance between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, reflecting a united front against potential security threats. This collaborative effort not only marks a pivotal step in addressing past challenges but also sets the stage for a more secure and coordinated future in the region.
