Local Agricultural Festival in Shaqlawa Promotes Sustainable Economy
Shaqlawa, Erbil - A local agricultural products festival, themed "Agriculture... Moving Towards a Sustainable Economy," has launched in the Shaqlawa district, situated to the north of the capital, Erbil. The event, which commenced on Friday, is set to run for two days, with the aim of spotlighting and promoting the region's homegrown agricultural produce.
Karwan Karim Khan, acting district commissioner of Shaqlawa, shared insights into the festival's objectives, stating, "To present local agricultural products to our region's farmers and residents, we have organized this festival, which features a wide array of product types. These festivities are slated to continue for two days, providing an excellent platform for local farmers and producers to showcase their goods."
The primary goal of this festival is to bolster the local agricultural sector, facilitate the marketing of regional products, and introduce citizens to the diverse range of offerings by local farmers. Among the products on display are honey, cheese, milk, tomato paste, cucumbers, strawberries, figs, olives, pomegranates, natural flowers, and various other items.
The festival not only celebrates the rich agricultural heritage of the Shaqlawa district but also supports the transition towards a more sustainable and economically viable farming sector. It provides a unique opportunity for local farmers to reach a broader market while educating the public about the diversity and quality of local produce.
As the festival continues, it is anticipated that it will not only boost the local economy but also foster a deeper appreciation for the vital role of agriculture in the region's sustainable development.
