President Barzani: Attempts to Undermine Kurdistan Region's Constitutional Rights Have Failed

Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President, Masoud Barzani, emphasized on Monday that the attempts to undermine the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region in the Iraqi Parliament have failed.

In a statement, President Barzani described the recent events as "very unfortunate," stating that there had been an irresponsible and unconstitutional attempt in the Iraqi Parliament to deepen problems and violate the legitimate rights of the Kurdish people.

President Barzani highlighted that the federal government of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government had previously reached a positive and constructive agreement to address challenges and strengthen stability in the country for the benefit of the people.

However, he expressed his disappointment with certain political parties that sought to undermine the agreement through changes in sections of the budget law. Nonetheless, he reassured that these irresponsible attempts had ultimately failed and were thwarted.

President Barzani shed light on the true face of the chauvinistic parties, stating that they do not respect their promises, signatures, or even the principles of the Iraqi constitution.

Optimistically, President Barzani stated that he believes the approved draft budget law, now passed by the Iraqi Parliament, will be faithfully implemented.

He further emphasized the significance of the Kurdistan Region, asserting that it is the homeland of the Kurdish people and a result of their blood and struggle. President Barzani declared firm opposition to any attempts to undermine or eliminate the Kurdistan Region, reiterating that for them, the Kurdistan Region is not just a red line but a matter of life or death. It is either Kurdistan or death.

President Barzani's statement reaffirms the KDP's unwavering commitment to protecting the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region. The response from other political factions and the implementation of the budget law will determine the future course of dialogue and cooperation within Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
