Erbil and Baghdad agree to carry out a joint operation

A representative of the Peshmerga and Interior Ministries of the Iraqi Joint Operations Command said that Erbil and Baghdad had agreed to form two joint brigades, and that joint operations between the Peshmerga and the Iraqi army would be carried out when necessary.

Abdul-Khaleq Talat said, in statements to the official website of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, that the joint operation between the Peshmerga and the Iraqi army will continue in any area of the ISIS movement, or that there is information about ISIS, whether it is in the Kurdistan region or on the Iraqi side, where the coalition are also cooperating in the field in terms of air operations.

He also explained that the joint operation takes place within the framework of an agreement between the region and Baghdad, which is what the Ministry of Peshmerga and the Iraqi Ministry of Defense did in their last meeting, so the implementation of the agreement began. The first operation was carried out yesterday, in which a number of ISIS fighters were killed and a number of their vehicles were destroyed.

Talat added that the operations will continue until joint brigades are formed between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army, because ISIS exists, so it was agreed on the location of ISIS. From now on a joint operation will be carried out.

Carrying out such operations will have a significant impact on limiting the movement of ISIS, as there have been a large number of ISIS movements in the past.
