Yazidi Kurds to demonstrate in Baghdad over the fate of their hostages

ERBIL - A spokesperson for Yazidi communications said that there is a widespread campaign by the Yazidis to pressure the Iraqi government, the United Nations and humanitarian organizations to find out the fate of the kidnapped Yazidis.

Mir Jawhar Ali Bagh, a spokesperson for the Yazidis for Communications, said that the Yezidi Kurds are trying to organize a large demonstration in Firdausi Square in Baghdad in the near future, with the aim of encouraging the Iraqi government, human rights organizations and all United Nations organizations to make serious efforts to save the kidnapped Yazidis from the hands of ISIS.

"At the same time, we urge the Iraqi government to rescue the Yazidi hostages in exchange for the return of the families of ISIS fighters who are still being held in Al-Hol refugee camp," he said.

It is worth noting that in 2014, in the attack on the Yezidi Kurds, 6,417 Yazidi Kurds were kidnapped in Sinjar and its borders by ISIS militants, after which a special office was established by the Kurdistan Regional Government to rescue them. 3,545 people of both sexes have been released from the kidnappings, but the fate of 2,872 Yazidi kidnappers remains unknown.
