ERBIL — Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Monday supervised a meeting on the Kurdistan Region Budget Bill for the year 2021.

During the meeting, which was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and a number of concerned ministers, they discussed the draft Kurdistan Regional Budget Law and the latest data related to the region's expenditures and revenues, and they also discussed the various reasons for drafting the budget.

In the meeting, they stressed the need for the budget law to reflect the financial situation in the Kurdistan Region with utmost transparency. In this context, PM Barzani directed the concerned ministries to prepare their latest observations and views on the draft law, so that the Council of Ministers can approve it in the near future before referring it to the Kurdistan Parliament.

Also in the meeting, PM Barzani touched upon the implementation of the Federal Budget Law for the year 2021, as the region’s financial dues were not disbursed under this law despite its approval and the region’s showing its readiness to fulfill its obligations. In this regard, he directed the concerned ministers to continue communicating with their counterparts in the federal government.

This is due to the Kurdistan Regional Government delegation to visit Baghdad next week to follow up the implementation of the federal budget law.
