ERBIL - Canada has reiterated its support to the Kurdistan Region, showing readiness to prolong its assistance to the autonomous region.

The remarks were made by Canada's new ambassador to Iraq, Ulric Shannon, during his visit to Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani in Erbil on Monday.

The Kurdish prime minister congratulated Shannon on his new mission and wished him success, according to a statement by Barzani's office.

The Canadian envoy reaffirmed his country's readiness to help Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the statement concluded.
