ERBIL - The Iraqi army killed on Friday five militants of the Islamic State (IS) in Mount Hamrin, in the province of Diyala.

Confirming to BasNews, Nihad Mohammed, a spokesperson for Diyala Police, said that the insurgents were targeted during an operation by the Iraqi forces in Hamrin Mount.

He added that a hideout of the IS group was also found in the area, inside which, a number of explosive devices were seized.

The military campaign was carried out based on intelligence information, Mohammed said.

Mount Hamrin is an area stretched from Diyala province to Kirkuk and southern Nineveh.
