Jeffrey Meet with Turkish Defense Official in Ankara
According to a report by Voice of America (VOA), talks between Jeffrey and the Turkish officials were mainly focused on the application of the 13-point agreement between Washington and Ankara concerning the Turkish incursion into northeastern Syria.
About one week after Turkey began an offensive against the Kurdish forces in northeast of Syria, Washington intimated a deal with Ankara for a temporary ceasefire, during which the Kurdish fighters were expected to withdraw from the border areas.
Turkey views the Kurdish forces in Syria as an extension of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which is designated as a "terrorist organisation" by Ankara.
