PM Barzani Underscores UNESCO Designation of Creative Kurdish Cities
“On the occasion of UNESCO’s designation of Sulaymaniyah and Sina [Sanandaj] as two creative cities for literature and music, I congratulate their intellectuals, inventors, the residents, and their governors,” PM Barzani said in the statement.
“I wish that the achievement would encourage further progress in literature and art in Kurdistan Region.”
On 30th October, 66 cities were designated as UNESCO Creative Cities by the Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay.
“All over the world, these cities, each in its way, make culture the pillar, not an accessory, of their strategy,” says Azoulay. “This favours political and social innovation and is particularly important for the young generations.”
The UNESCO Creative Cities Network now counts a total of 246 cities.
