Iran Sentences Man to Death for Allegedly Spying for US
Gholam Hossein Esmaeili, a spokesperson for Iran’s judiciary, said the capital punishment was for “wide-scale acts of espionage and cooperation with the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)”.
The name and nationality of the alleged spy remains unknown.
According to Esmaeili, three other men, all Iranian nationals, were given each a 10-year imprisonment for working for the US and British intelligence agencies.
They were all arrested during security operations last year, the spokesperson revealed.
