President Barzani Meets with U.N. Iraq Envoy‏
Salahadin, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, (Krp.org)- President Masoud Barzani received a United Nations delegation headed by Mr. Jan Kubis, the Special Representative of the United Nations to Iraq. During the meeting President Barzani and Mr. Kubis spoke of the latest developments on the war fronts against the terrorists of he Islamic State, the current political and economic situation in the Kurdistan Region and the situation of the refugees and IDPs that are present in the Kurdistan Region.

President Barzani discussed the continuing threat of the terrorists of the Islamic State, adding that the morale of the Peshmerga forces continues to be at high levels. The President and Mr. Kubis also spoke of the upcoming military operations against the terrorists in the city of Musol and other areas in Iraq.

The two sides spoke of the economic crisis facing Iraq in general and the Kurdistan Region in particular and how that is causing tremendous amounts of pressure on the Kurdistan Region as it strives to pay the salaries of its civil servants.

During the meeting Mr. Kubis commented on the role of the Kurdistan Region in providing refuge to millions of refugees and IDPs and expressed the appreciation of the United Nations to the Kurdistan Region for that assistance.
