Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani today welcomed a Netherlands government delegation that included Deputy Prime Minister Lodewijk Asscher and Defense Minister Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert.

In a meeting between the President and the Dutch delegation, the fighting against ISIS terrorists, the humanitarian situation of refugees and internally displaced people in Kurdistan were discussed.

The Dutch Deputy Prime Minister praised the role of peshmerga forces in the fight against ISIS, and as a partner in the global coalition against ISIS, he pledged his country’s continued support for the peshmerga forces. He also expressed his empathy for the KRG in looking after large numbers of refugees and internally displaced people.

President Barzani thanked the Dutch government for its role in supporting the peshmerga operations against ISIS. On preparations for the liberation of Mosul, President Barzani said that there needs to be consensus on how the city will be administered after liberation.
