By Kurdistan Hassan

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Salman, a disabled Kurdish Peshmerga who lost his eyes, legs, a hand and one ear in an attempt to defuse a landmine on the Makhmur front in the fight against ISIS, has recently returned to the Kurdistan region after receiving treatment abroad.

In the above video, Salman and his family express their hope he one day might regain his vision in order to gaze upon his young son, who was born after Salman was wounded.

“I lost both legs, a hand and both eyes as well as an ear. My only wish is to see my 9-month-old child. I have not seen him for nine months,” Salman said. “It feels like 900 years for me.”

According to doctors in Iran, where Salman received his prosthetics, if the Peshmerga were allowed to travel to Spain or the US, he could undergo procedures to get his sight back.
