President Barzani, U.S. Envoy Discuss Regional Developments and Syria in Phone Call
President Masoud Barzani held a telephone conversation on Sunday, February 8, 2026, with Mr. Tom Barrack, U.S. President Donald Trump’s Special Envoy to Syria and the United States Ambassador to Turkey, to discuss the political situation in the region and recent developments in Syria.
According to the discussion, both sides exchanged views on the overall regional climate and the latest political and security changes unfolding in Syria. They stressed the need for continued efforts and necessary measures to prevent chaos, instability, and conflict, emphasizing the importance of preserving peace and stability across the region.
During the call, President Barzani and Ambassador Barrack also commended each other’s roles and contributions toward promoting stability and fostering peace in the Middle East.
