Construction of Residential Units for Tenants and the Poor to Commence, Completion Expected by Early 2025
In a recent announcement, Dr. Mohammed Shakri Mohammed Saeed, Chairman of the Investment Board, revealed that the construction of residential units for tenants and the economically disadvantaged is set to begin. Once initiated, individuals in need will be able to receive these units by early 2025.
Speaking to the media office of the Kurdistan Regional Government, the Chairman of the Investment Authority emphasized that the construction of residential units is a complex and time-consuming process. While the names of prospective occupants have been collected electronically, certain challenges related to land acquisition have arisen. However, progress has already commenced in the Zakho area.
Dr. Mohammed Shakri expressed the commitment to initiate the project as promised, starting in May of this year. The aim is to complete the construction within a year. Additionally, if suitable lands are obtained, similar efforts will be undertaken in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah. The necessary preparations have been made, and the authorities are ready to embark on the construction process.
The Chairman of the Investment Authority highlighted the significant benefits that citizens will gain from these residential units, as they will have the opportunity to become homeowners. Should the construction work commence by mid-this year, individuals will be able to move into their apartments by mid-next year, with the process expected to continue until 2025.
Moreover, Mohammed Shakri stressed that the Kurdistan Regional Government is committed to providing essential household amenities for these units. The goal is to create complete residential cities that offer dignified living conditions for the citizens, ensuring their well-being and quality of life.
This initiative showcases the government's dedication to addressing the housing needs of tenants and the underprivileged, offering them a pathway towards homeownership and improved living standards. As the construction commences, it sets a positive trajectory for enhancing social welfare and housing accessibility in the region.
