ISIS still in danger in Syria-Iraq, more than 10,000 active fighters: UN
The United Nations: Despite the alleged defeat of ISIS and the death of its leader Baghdadi, the organization remains a major threat to Syria and Iraq. The United Nations itself has recognized that around 10,000 IS fighters are present and active in Syria and Iraq. They not only do sporadic attacks, but also grow.

The head of the UN counterterrorism department Vladimir Voronkov (UN counterterrorism chief Vladimir Voronkov) said so. He said that even after two years of defeat, the fighters of the Islamic State (ISIS-ISIL) not only recovered, but also carried out numerous attacks, increasing their activities.

Speaking at the UN Security Council, Voronkov said ISIS militants continued their work by dividing them into small groups in these two countries. He said these fighters are not only limited to Syria-Iraq, but they have also increased their contacts with other regional groups. Although their activities outside of direct combat areas have been low, this may be the reason, as due to the crown there are economic traffic restrictions throughout the area.

However, Voronkov also said that there had been small attacks in some places affected by propaganda groups associated with Daesh and getting help from them. By the way, Voronkov also added that ISIS terrorists take advantage of these lockdowns to organize and strengthen themselves. But he also said that there had been no change in the functioning of ISIS under the leadership of its new leader Abu-Ibrahim al-Hashemi al-Qureshi. He recruits terrorists and raises funds like before.

Voronkov, referring to the reach of ISIS on the African continent, said ISIS has become very strong here, especially in West Africa (ISIS in the African province of l ‘Where is). This ISIS group has more than 3,500 fighters and is continuously strengthening Daesh in the Greater Sahara chain. And also help. ISIS currently remains the most powerful force in all three parts of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger. However, there are only a few hundred ISIS militants left in Libya. Voronkov said ISIS fighters were taking advantage of local ethnic battles, which could have a disproportionate impact on border areas.

Voronkov expressed concern about increasing attacks by ISIS in countries of Central Africa, particularly in Congo and Mozambique. Where ISIS terrorists not only carried out dangerous attacks, but also controlled some villages.

On ISIS’s growing grip in European countries, Voronkov said that ISIS is disseminating its propaganda through the Internet in European countries and that so far there have been three attacks in France and three in Britain. He expressed concern that this is happening due to the release of dangerous prisoners and the lack of concrete plans for their proper rehabilitation.

While speaking about Afghanistan, Voronkov said that ISIS carried out major attacks in many parts of the country, including Kabul. ISIS wants to strengthen itself around the world using the land of Afghanistan. And wants to increase its impact. That is why he is also opposed to the Taliban-US peace talks.

At the same time, talking about other parts of Asia, ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack in the Maldives in April. And in Southeast Asian countries, they often face government security forces.

Speaking on this issue, US Ambassador Kelly Kraft to the UN said that we cannot sit peacefully after defeating Daesh in Syria-Iraq, otherwise their wives and children can present us with a challenge like ISIS 2.0.

Russian Ambassador to the UN Wesley Nebenzia said the emergence of ISIS remains a threat. And its fighters also dream of bringing back the Khilafat.
