ERBIL - Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani has extended condolences to the family of renowned Kurdish woman Ayisha Taha, who passed away on Monday.

Taha lost three sons on the same day in the fight against the militant group of Islamic State (IS) in 2014, after which the then President of the Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, gave her the title of "Mother of Martyrs".

The Kurdish president on Monday held a phone call with the son of Taha, extending condolences and wishing them comfort, a statement by his office said.
