ERBIL — After 12 people tested positive for the new coronavirus in the village of Zelka, in Erbil Province, authorities have decided to quarantine the entire community.

The Kurdistan Region is experiencing a sharp rise in the number of COVID-19 infections, hoping to impose more restrictions to prevent the further spread of the novel virus.

Health authorities have expressed concerns over the spread in Zelka village, worrying that more infected people would be detected in the coming days.

According to the lates updates, 46 people have so far died of the new coronavirus and 2,101 have been infected.
