ERBIL - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday that his country will implement the contracts signed between Baghdad and Moscow for the delivery of weapons to Iraq.

The Russian foreign minister made the remarks during a press conference in Baghdad on Monday after a meeting with Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim.

Lavrov arrived on Monday morning in Baghdad, where he is expected to hold meetings with the country's top officials.

This is Lavrov's first visit in the past five years.

The Russian top diplomat will also visit the Kurdistan Region's capital Erbil afterward to meet with the senior Kurdish officials.
