The 14th Marivan International Street Theater Festival kicked off in the Kurdish city of Marivan in northwest Iran on August 23, 2019.

The five-day festival welcomes theatre troupes from 12 countries including Italy, Netherlands, Russia, Mexico, Brazil, Ukraine and Armenia, Iraq, Iran, Oman, the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Georgia and Lebanon.

The event aims to showcase different plays from Eastern and Eestern cultures. It will run until August 27, 2019.

The Kurdish city of Marivan is known as the capital of theatre in Iran. The International Street Theater Festival is one of the most important artistic events in the country.
