Peshmerga Repels IS Attack in Khanaqin: Commander
Talking to Kurdistan 24, Jimoor Rostam, a Peshmerga commander in the area, said that the incident occurred in the village of Kani Masi, in Khanaqin, where the militants attacked a unit of the Kurdish forces.
He pointed out that the clash continued for about half an hour before the extremists escaped the area.
Additional Peshmerga forces were deployed to the scene to prevent further possible attacks, Rostam added.
No casualties have been reported from the side of the Peshmerga fighters.
The Islamic State has lately begun to carry out terrorist activities in the disputed territories.
