ERBIL - Prominent Kurdish leader and former President of the Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, received on Wednesday a delegation from the Iraqi Islamic Party to discuss the security and politics in Iraq.

During the meeting, Barzani, who is also the President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and Ayad al-Samarrai, Secretary-General of the Iraqi Islamic Party, exchanged views on the situation in Nineveh, the process of reconstructing Mosul city, and the living conditions of the residents in the area.

The pair further underlined the danger of resurgence of the extremist group of Islamic State (IS) in the country, stressing on the unity by all sides to ensure the stability in the region.

Barzani and Samarrai also shed light on the latest political developments, including the relations between Erbil and Baghdad, and coordinations between the KDP and Iraqi Islamic Party to improve the ties between the sides.
