Public Gathering Calls for End of Turkish Bombardment of Kurdistan Border
ERBIL — Several dozens of people gathered in a border town of Kurdistan Region on Wednesday to call on Turkey to end bombardment of Kurdistan borders which puts civilian lives at stake.

Turkey carries out continuous military operations deep into KRG territories, claiming to target positions belonging to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

Today’s gathering was held in Chamanke district of Amedi, Duhok province, where people raised signs reading “No to Bombardment of Villages”.

Nimat Shoukri, one of the demonstrators, told BasNews the gathering was to condemn Turkish bombardments near the civilian populated areas around Amedi which have already caused multiple civilian casualties.

He also criticized the PKK for their military presence in proximity of villages, which could attract more Turkish airstrikes and bombardments.

“If the situation continues to remain like this, the area will soon be evacuated,” he said.
