ERBIL — Masrour Barzani, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) nominee for Kurdistan Region premiership, is expected to begin the formation of his cabinet in the first half of June.

Kurdistan Region Parliament released a statement on Thursday to invite lawmakers to the inauguration ceremony of the new president of Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, on 10th June.

The new president is expected to name and task Barzani the same day to begin the formation of the new cabinet.

Masrour Barzani currently serves as the Chancellor of Kurdistan Region Security Council.

He is praised for his decisive role in leading the Kurdish forces during the years-long war against the Islamic State (IS), and creating a safe haven not only for the people of Kurdistan, but also for nearly 2 million Iraqi IDPs and Syrian refugees.
