Barzani, Usama al-Nujaifi Urge Addressing the Mosul Crisis
ERBIL — Former president of Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani received on Wednesday a delegation led by Usama al-Nujaifi, a Sunni politician and leader of Qarar (Decision) alliance in Erbil.

The leaders reviewed the latest developments in Iraq’s politics and security with ongoing challenges in the country.

They also discussed the difficulties faced by the people of Mosul even after the defeat of the Islamic State (IS) militarily in the northern province.

Barzani and Nujaifi agreed that the peaceful coexistence among the diverse community of Mosul should be further promoted, and ongoing challenges must be addressed.

Mosul was liberated after three months of fierce fightings in mid 2017.

Since then, despite the victory over IS, terror threats remain the main challenge to the safety of the people who returned to the city already in ruins from the devastating war.
